Overview

With over 300 million tons of high-quality anthracite reserves, Lehigh Anthracite is a premier anthracite producer for customers both domestically and internationally. Created as a joint venture between BET Investments and Robindale Energy, Lehigh is located near Tamaqua, PA in the anthracite region of northeastern Pennsylvania. This proximity to shipping networks along the east coast allows for efficient transportation to customers globally via port, rail, or truck.

Lehigh Anthracite currently has the largest surface mining permit in the state of Pennsylvania, with over 7,500 acres of superior anthracite. The coal is mined, washed and processed on site in our modern processing plant. Efficiency is the key to our operations at Lehigh Anthracite, we utilize everything from on-site testing to state-of-the-art mining equipment to ensure operations move as smoothly as possible, leading to an annual production of more than 300,000 tons of processed coal. Premium Anthracite from our mine is used in a variety of industries including steel manufacturing, water filtration, and home/commercial/industrial heating.

Lehigh Anthracite also has a commitment to its corporate social responsibility. Since commencing operations in 2011, Lehigh has reclaimed over 8,000 acres of land previously damaged by early mining operations. Additionally, over 300,000 tons of waste coal has been removed, eliminating harmful acid runoff into neighboring streams and waterways. We are dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of our current operations. After mining has finished, we add new soil, seed, and replant vegetation in the area to bring the land back to its original landscape.
